Hear My Prayer

Avatar: the Last Airbender

Ah, my first Avatar story. I don't know why this popped up into my head. Maybe because I really don't know who his parents were. I mean, he had to have had parents.

This story is inspired by the story of Samuel in the Bible. His mother, Hannah, was the favorite wife of a man named Elkanah. His other wife had had many children, and rubbed it in Hannah's face because she was barren. On a festival day, Hannah went into the temple and prayed so fervently the priest, Eli, thought she was drunk. When she explained her story, Eli told her that God would bless her with a child. When Hannah gave birth to Samuel, she took him to the temple as a toddler and dedicated to God. I sort of imagined Hanne, Aang's mother, doing the same thing. She was a barren woman who was given not only a child, but she became the mother of the Avatar. I just thought it would be an interesting spin on things.

Maybe I'll write a second chapter to this...maybe...
